Grandma (Maternal)

August 10, 2024 Noon:

Thank God those nearby

fires are out finally...

Summer 2024, the wildland fires

were really a not needed moment

to my community.

but now the proper politicians know more ...

maybe next Summer 2025 they can rethink

their methods on Wildland Fires

because I am fair, firm and bold

to place out the public documents...

but now back to my journaling ...

for a family member on genealogy...

it will be placed to "PUBLISH"

and I will just keep adding to it

until I place at bottom of page

"Completed"

(with the date/time).

It is nice to get back to doing this

journaling of my roots

vs

trail and document fires

that do not usually happen to my community

but once I saw "how"

Chief Suitor retired this year...

I was prepared to "watch"

(be on alert)

especially when there

is a loaner off road

Fire Vehicle

at the local fire department.

Praying he gets a proper

farewell retirement party-

and they work on his retirement correctly...

My grandmother loved daisies

I know {acknowledge} some, [possibly many/heavily], in my family belong to private groups / secret societies {I have attended two (years: 1984/2019) in my lifetime unknowingly, as a guest}

(not my thing to do---stay with my housewife moments...)

I know a Tucson Freemason told me in 2002 some stuff and I am a housewife and that's enough for me, to be a housewife, no social external areas except helping local elders and kids & I have not done that since Feb. 2024

I paused to handle my health.)

Due to my chronic health concerns since fourth grade and more happened at age 12 and then my entire lifetime - I opted out of all social organizations, yet I do help freely my elders and kids my entire life...

...and all I know is my maternal grandparents were avid with VFW and Elks Lodge but _______________was done to my grandfather and this new man ________ was a member of Freemason.

I know for me; it would have been hard for me to conform or groom me that way...I follow just one's guidance...

I always felt it was a retirement social activity, but I didn't know until recent years they were involved with these entities at a young age as well..I just figured it was older folks meeting to dance and socialize- never knew it was most their lives, just a part of their lives.

My great grandpa was a Linotype Operator & was possibly influenced and had possible ties to the Hamptons and reported through each generation that he had possible ties to Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald- and Edith Mae my great grandma was a Factory Worker. He left my great grandma, grandma and Aunt Blanche so I am going to dig to see if the records show anything as to how or why? or when? - their memory was after school they came to all the belongings in their home, gone along with him and so it will be interesting what the documents show...

Let me look at my great grandma for a moment and where she came from:

I visited her in the hospital in the 80's and I went to her funeral. I did not know her except those 2 moments. I was told she was regimen like and went to sleep early and faced a lot of blessings along with pains.

June 1, 1915:

she married at age 21.

great grandma's parents:

Steven Merrill would be my 2nd great grandpa:

1880 Census:

This Census shows my 2nd great grandpa and his parents and Siblings:

Judson (29) (1851) Oysterman, Ann Elern (28) Keeping House, Stephen D (9),  Mary E (7), Adaline (5),

my 2nd great grandpa Judson/ great grandmas Ann/Regina and his parents John and Harriet:

Judson's Parents -

Judson's Siblings:

  • Sarah A

  • Mary A

  • George E

  • Charles R

  • Sarah E - Sadie

  • John Orville / Orville John

Spouses:

2. Ann Elern

Here is the overall template after Judson Merrell and I could only find documents on my mother's side after Judson Merrell's side as early as 1502:

Let us look at my 3rd great grandma's side and it went to 1823 as for documents- the overall template...not too far back:

Stephen's siblings:

  1. Mary E

  2. Adaline

1900 Census:

Stephen as headship (39) and an Oysterman like his father with him married to Catherine

Caren Merril.

spouse, Catherine Robb:

Her...my great grandma's siblings:

  1. George

  2. Stephen Jr

  3. great grandma

It shows she married my great grandpa June 22, 1915.

What is interesting is in 1915 she married my great grandpa and they had my grand aunt and grandma but by the 1920 census my grandma was living with the Hayes as my great grandma lodged there.

It shows everyone now living at my Great Aunt's...my grandma and her mom...

Tea team was big for my great grandma...she rotated in living with Aunt Blanch and with my grandma in the summer times-

House dress only for my grandma until the 1960's--- then she wore slacks and more social clothing.

Shows only separated in 1950 Census not divorced- living with family (Grand Aunt) - All listed below I have been around in the 1980's-early 1990's.

where they lived is now a strip mall-

my grandma's parents ....my great grandfather Edward Francis R IV and my great grandma Edith Mae:

So my great grandpa is age 2 here...it is odd how my 2nd great grandpa was the first Staten Island NY Captain State Policeman and his father was as well--- then to think by that 1925 Census he is married to my great grandma about to have my grandma but by 1920-1950 Census my great grandma only has "separated" on Census not divorced so I am intrigued to see my great grandpa born of generational law enforcement to see what happened in the Hamptons with him and this Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald- Great Gatsby...I have a gut feel it was something that my grandma says he vanished, but I am thinking he may have done something that landed him in jail ??? let me see...but that is just a gut feel...I feel he did not conform to the generational police man path...something just is saying that is it...but we will see...

It is now Tappen Park where they lived:

Journal Courier at age 45? my great grandpa put his parents' address on registration card at age 45?

Yet, interesting to see his mailing address went to Hotel Milner in New Haven, Conn. 380 George Street New Haven, Connecticut.

1910 Census- My Great Grandpa's brother Daniel was a NY Distillery Driver at age 18. His father was a New York City Police Officer at age 50. May was a Mailing Proprietor at age 21.

1915's Census: His father was a New York City Police Officer at age 53 and should be age 55.

this doc shows 9-20-1891 for birth vs. June 1822...I closed another document earlier that had same date so let me go get that again...

1920's Census: Daniel's father was a New York City Police Officer at age 58 which should say 60. Daniel was a Shipyard Iron Worker at age 28. George was a shipyard clerk at age 18. Bridget McCarthy, age 30, was an immigrant and came in 1912 from Ireland, and was the home's servant plus she worked with Sacred Heart Rector housekeeper along with sister Mary at age 48.

Bridget:

1930's Census: Daniel (39) was a boarder at Catherine McGrath's(56) place. Owned a radio. Rented. Daniel worked in the office at a bank.

and his father

was, in 1900, a

New York Police Officer---

my 2nd great grandpa-

I have a NY police patch from my father's Estate belongings when he passed on

but it is from paternal side---

so I had New York police officers

on both maternal and paternal side.

Edward R____ articles I need to show some to see where they go...

My grandma's sibling- sister:

Blanchie...my grand Aunt- she was an amazing woman.

I knew / loved my grand Uncle in the 1980's- early 90's.

home is no longer there.

My Grand Uncle's Father was from Russia and spoke Polish and was a Men's Wear Tailor in 1920 Census. Immigrated to USA in 1908. My Grand Uncle who married my grandmother's sister Blanchie was age 6 at the 1920 Census. In 1930's Census they changed Parents birthplace to Poland vs Russia.

these were Mother-in-Law homes where my grand aunt lived on one level and my grandparents lived on the other level.

we will go back to this area at another time and dig more into the records:

Let's look at my grandmother's father's side who went AWOL - their Family Tree template - minus the last name in the past 6 decades for those two who are still alive upon their request...I can tell I will have to manually add in areas with sourced documents as I place template here:
